Partner Breath Work
1. 4 Part Breathing Exercise
Partner 1 lies down on ground and gets super comfortable and cozy. Partner 2 brings her hands to partner's belly, side ribs, upper chest and neck for 2 to 3 minute intervals to give Partner 1 something to breath into. I timed it and lead it.
Went really well.
2. Breaking down an Asana
Looked at Urdhva Dhanurasana and talked about how to understand a pose.
Assigned Asana Breakdown Homework.
3. Headstand practice
I shared the important aspects of preparing a student for headstand.
Then we moved though a Yoga Basics Sequence towards it.
Then we looked a each other's headstands and practiced assisting each other.
4. Om Circle Close
This revealed that we need to talk about OM.
Summary: The breathwork went great. Allowed peeps to start to form more intimate trusting relationships and develop an understanding for the anatomy of the breathing. The Asana Breakdown went smoothly and I think made sense. The headstand practice was clear and looking and assisting each other was super fun. Out of 9 peeps, only 2 were comfortable doing headstand in the center of the room so there was a lot of opportunity for growth and discovery.
